SEAFOOD BOIL BAG
Blogged by: Victoria Minell 17 Jul 2023

Old bay seasoning is a blend of herbs and spices including celery salt, paprika, black pepper, mustard, cardamom, cloves, ginger, nutmeg and more. The season is mainly used for seafood and stew recipes however can be used as a delicious topping on popcorn, eggs, fried chicken wings, corn on the cob and more.

Note, please use oven bags only. Snap lock and other plastic options will melt.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbps butter
  • 1 brown onion
  • 1 cup/250ml chicken stock
  • 2 tbps old bay seasoning
  • ¼ cup roughly chopped parsley
  • 200g small white potatoes
  • 4 small corn cobs
  • 500g marinara seafood mix
  • 6 green prawns
  • 1 lemon (cut into wedges)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius
  2. Make your sauce base in a pan on medium heat using butter, brown onion, chicken stock old bay seasoning and parsley
  3. Once fragrant (approx. 3 mins) pour into the boiler bag followed by the potatoes, corn, marinara mix, prawns and half the lemon wedges (saving some for serving)
  4. Tie the bag in a tight knot and place in the oven for 35 mins. You will notice a brown char on the bag, indicating the seafood and veg is cooked and the flavouring has come through.
  5. Undo the bag and pour carefully onto a plate/bowl. Be careful of the hot steam
  6. Serve with extra lemon wedges and enjoy!
