Labubu Bento
Say hello to the Labubu Bento – the most mischievously tasty lunch you’ll ever meet!
This bento is our little edible adventure - a playful mix of bold flavours, colourful textures, and just the right dash of whimsy. Every bite feels like a surprise waiting to make you smile.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups sushi rice (cooked and seasoned)
- 2 tbsp furikake
- 3 small frankfurts
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 4 slices smoked salmon
- 1 romaine lettuce leaf
- 1 radish, finely sliced into thin rounds
- ½ Lebanese cucumber
- 1 Nori sheet
- Black sesame seeds
Method
- Make the Labubu Face
Mix half the sushi rice with furikake.
- Take a spoonful of plain white sushi rice and place it in the centre of a sheet of glad wrap. Surround it with the furikake rice.
- Shape into an oval with the white rice peeking through in the middle for the “face.” Wrap tightly and refrigerate.
- Form the Ears
- With the remaining furikake rice, shape two small ovals (approx. 3 cm long, 1.5 cm wide).
- Add a little white sushi rice in the middle of each to mimic Labubu’s ear details. Wrap in glad wrap and refrigerate.
- Octopus Sausages
- Slice the bottom half of each frankfurt into 6–8 thin “legs,” leaving the top intact.
- Pan-fry in a little oil for 2–3 mins until the legs curl outwards like octopus tentacles.
- Use a toothpick to poke in black sesame seeds as “eyes.”
- Rolled Egg Log
- Pour the beaten eggs into a non-stick pan to make a thin omelette.
Roll into a log while warm, then slice into 3 rounds.
- Cucumber Hearts
- Use a small heart-shaped cutter to punch 4 hearts out of cucumber slices.
- Assemble the Bento
- Line the bento box or bowl with a romaine lettuce leaf.
- Place the Labubu rice face in the centre and attach the ears.
- Position the 3 egg rounds in the top-right corner and scatter cucumber hearts over them.
- Add the octopus sausages in the top-left corner.
- Roll smoked salmon slices into little spirals and place them around the Labubu face like decorative flowers.
- Make the Features
- Slice radish thinly for: eyebrows, eyes, and tiny triangle teeth.
- Cut ovals of nori and layer them over the radish for eyes; top each eye with a tiny dot of white rice as the iris.
- Add a small nori triangle for the nose.
- Cut a thin nori strip for the smile and line it with tiny radish triangles for sharp Labubu teeth.
